Figured I'd stop lurking and join up. I have replaced my 454 with an IH 6.9 (I refuse to call it a Ferd) and an E4OD. Got the whole Ford truck for less than a Cummins and I like to be different. Getting about 18mpg unloaded, so that's making me happy! I promise not to ask if I can use my Harbor Freight grinder to make some semi wheels fit...

It's an '86 International Harvester 6.9L IDI which is the engine Ford used from '84-'94 before the powerstroke came out. An all mechanical diesel, which makes it easy to work on. I've done some head work and such to help it flow. Not a huge powerhouse of an engine, but it will get the job done. I opted to use the Ford E4OD trans with a better TC, controlled by a Baumann programable unit. I'll be installing a Brownie 4 speed aux trans to give me 4 ranges to play with. Add in a paint job and a new interior and it's become a really nice ride. I've loaded some pics in my gallery (for some reason I'm having issues attaching them here?).
