i was just wondering why in all these magazines i see that all the hitch setup's are all bolted in between the frame rails over the axle?is there a reason that they r bolted in instead of being welded in which would seem stronger? was always wondering any help thanks

it might be the fact that you need lesser tools to bolt in a factorie made hitch .
in most cars the boltholes are allready in the chassis , bolts are simple to use even for a unskilled person they cant garantee someones weldingskills to be sufficient

When you have you're articualated Notch/Hitch nount setups, you can build/bend, paint then install, it takes too much time tape off the hitch tubing to paint something in a flashy color for this setup when wedled, though it is done by many and it looks impressive when welded. Plus when you build then bolt in with some 'CHROME' bolts it looks great too. Also if you want to take the hitch off and replace with notch cover you would not have any protrutions, just a nice notch cover/tunnel. Plus when you have a ball/reciever mounted on the center of your hitch it gives it that 'Hauler' look which is what these truck were originally designed to do. It's all preference!!!

I've seen on Ebay the different CURT hitch kits for my 2010 chevy LS Silverados. I see they have 8k 6k 12k etc.. what does that mean? And second what will i need if i decide to get the hitch and socket to plug right into the harness that is tucked up by the spare tire...

Thanks....

That is the weight rating of the hitch. What will you be towing?
