Has anyone ever actually seen a failure? I know what we have been told, but who told them? I done lots of things that people said weren't possible, just because they hadn't done it...

I mean, we are talking about a 1/4" here...

By no means am I am advocate of putting the 22 o the 22.5, I just want to get sme more facts/info on it, good or bad.

I thought the radius and style of the bead changed at every tire size to avoid people doing that.

Lock has.

It has something to do with the bead tearing internally while your trying to stretch it.

And I think mathematically, it's actually more than a 1/2" of stretch. Something about diameter times the circumference, or something like that.

Where the heck is Lock?

Actually, I asked Lock the last time this topic came up and he has seen no failures first hand.

I just wanna see the facts, that's all :)

yes, you actually stretch the tire a good 1-1.5in, and the bigger the wheel size, the more it has to stretch.

i'd hate to see it happen. if it takes someone to have a failure and die until people realize it's a dumb idea, there's something wrong.

If I remember my high school math right lets see

Pie(r2)

3.14 x (12.25 x 12.25) = 3.14 x 150 =471

3.14 x (12 x 12) = 3.14 x 144 =452

471 - 452 = 19

19 inch difference in circumfrence would be a big deal. IMO
