Considering a Bell 5/8 static drop on my '91 C3500. Will the truck still get over most obstacles at this height or will it bang in to every other speed bump?

Thx

No it is just right with a 29 inch tire. Only problem i have is my cnotch bangs on dips. When I pull the bed off im going to bring it up a little higher.. But if I air up my helper bags its nice

Yea thats what I would do. Most people on here like bags. I might go that route in the front one day if my 5-8 dont look good with the semis on it will no in a few weeks.

Mine is 5-8 bell tech and have no problems, you might have to roll the fender lips depending on your stock front tire size.when the nose dives because of freeway dips...19s clear fine....22?
rear never bottoms out... also have helper bags,5-8 is drivable and towable... as with any lowered vehicle, you always want lower....static wises, its perfect...rear helper bags is a must if you are going to work the truck

What size wheel are you planing on running? On 16's which I hate but don't have the $ to upgrade right now that much drop will cause your engine cross member to hit alot in about 1 to 2 years the weight of the truck will wear on the front springs and cause them to settle. You are better off bagging, starting with the front isnt to costly. Then you can do the back later.

I can't tell you all that for sure! What i CAN tell you GIOVANNI is that my 2000 crewcab has a 5/7 drop on it, had been installed about 3 years before i got the truck and the day i bought it, coming home hit a bridge on the Western Kentucky Parkway ( wonderful road) and lost about 10 mph the cross member hit so hard! the truck hits many places, speed bumps, potholes ect, so I decided to bag it and put a stop to that. PLUS a month after buying the truck on the way to a classic car auction my best bud was following me in the truck so everyone would have a ride home, the left front tire blew out, since the truck sets so low there was nowhere for the tire to go and beat the total shit out of the fender and door, so it went in the shop, figured I'd go ahead and shave everything before we painted it, after starting the project I got laid off and don't have the $ to work on it so now its sitting in the same spot for 4 years! SO i would save a lot of trouble and bag at least the front since it's fairly easy, then when the money comes you can do the back!

No i don't, but there are some on here. i'm just saying it some what easy if you have mechanical ability, cuz there is a lot less work, no notch, link bars and all that u have to do on the back. Once you pick what baggs you want, put tha bag buckets in the A arms and run your line, front is not as complicated. Keep in mind most of these guys have body drops which requires much more fab work. Just a simple bag job isnt to complicated.

Some of the 1/2 ton guys talk about clearancing the lower control arms at the wheel lip. Are you guys seeing this on the 1 tons? Shouldn't be too hard to check.

Wonder if my tire chains will still fit? LOL

bags are cool...but I had my share... static is for me..my truck will always run, great tire wear too...blow a bag and who knows...
I run the bell tech nitrodrop shocks to control suspension ........I did rip my trans crossmember on some f%$# up road....but you would have these problems on any lowered vehicle

The Bell site shows something called a "spare tire relocator" kit. Why would you need this? Or do I want to know...

So it begins.

ANY drop kit will sag in time, no matter the name brand or shocks you run due to the sheer weight of the truck. Trucking magazine did a story on it several years ago when Dually's started hitting the scene hard. Bottom line is it's your truck, you run what set up you want and drive it till she falls apart. Just tryin to pass along some friendly advise. Good luck and post pics!
