So I cant find any helper bags that will work on my truck, 88 gmc Squarebody, since it's got the flip kit. I was thinking about just making my own. I called airbagit.com and they said if I put two of the 3800 bags on it, it would ride good and wouldnt require as much air. So if you guys were gonna do it how would you. What bags would you use, where would you mount them, would you relocate the shocks, (right now its got one shock in back of axle and one in front). Maybe put both shocks in back and run the bags just in front of the rearend with some brackets coming off the bottom of the rearend. Parts are going to be here to lower it soon. I'm going to get the bed off it and start getting it cleaned up and ready next week. So.........how would you do it??

I have the flip on my 88 square and helpers, but I dont remember what kit I used. I will see if I can get that info for you tomorrow, but I do know they were Firestone bags. You wont fine a system that will bolt on directly, I made heavy mods to the top mount on my kit to fit in front of the axle, and they work great.

I would NEVER buy anything from airbagit.com.

I completely agree with bigcat, nothing is going to just bolt on. Also, stick with bags like Fireston or Conti.

Do you have any side pics to show dimensions and give us an idea of what could fit where?

Also, do you have the ability to remove the bed for a few days? It's pretty easy to do with 4-6 big dudes.

I have Firestone kit # 2071, and I believe I git it from lockone on here. I'll see if I can get some pics for you If I can get it on the rack for a few minutes.

That would be awsome bigcat. I need to figure out what I'm gonna do quick, I knew that nothing would just bolt in. That's why I wondered if just building some scratch would be better and cheaper. I would like to have the bigger bags because from what I understand they will give me a better ride. Also, part of the reason I want the helper bags is so that when I get my wife, daughter, mom and myself in there it will help to keep it riding smoOth and not bottoming out. Is my thinking correct there?

When I dont have a load in the truck. I only run about 10 lbs in the bags, so they are basicly doing nothing. Helper bags will make the truck ride like crap when they have air in them and no load. So dont expect a limo type ride when your riding in a cavalier :)
