I am in the process of doing a 3" bd on my 2000 chevy dually. It is the old body style with the 454 big block engine. The a/c comp is not going to fit under the hood. What do I do? Getting rid of it is not an option. I don't really want to buy a different hood either. Also it does have a caddy clip on it if that matters. What else do I have to modify to fit. The cab is done but I am trying to put the front end back on and don't know what to do with the comp. . Also lowering the engine is not an option either because of exhaust and probably other issues. Please help I want to get it back together asap!

I had the same problem on my 4door short bed truck and we just ended up making some brackets to relocate the a/c comp right underneath where it is now. However it hangs out alittle over the frame and looks wierd but it works. I dont have any pics because I sold the truck before it was installed and the bracket went with the truck.

Here is what mine looked like. We moved the a/c comp under the altenator and the tensioner pulley. The motor in this truck was lowered about 1 inch and the comp still stuck out around 1 1/4 inches. Hope this helps. L8R

How much of a bd was on that truck? Grunion Fab makes a bracket but it goes where my edc is so I'm not gaining anything also I need to have new ac hoses made for his to work. When you say (lockone) that you put it under the alternator what did you do with the hoses? Because they would be way to long then. Did you just lengthen your wiring for the compressor? Also how does the belt tensioner work because of the way I would have to route the belt? Thanks for your help.

Ok I got my hood back on. I just took the comp off to get the clip adjusted. I had to remove the oil fill tube also. What a pain. It took 2 of us and a porta power to get it out. Anyways the stock bracket that holds the ac comp, is that cast iron? or cast steel? I was thinkin of cutting it apart and lowering the compressor right there? Also can the comp be mounted at an angle? or does it have to sit flat? Thanks for the help

I believe it is cast iron not positive. You can mount them however just as long as they are lubricated properly.

If you mount it at an angle, your belt wont line up correctly will it?
