I was told that you can have the alcoa wheels filled in and then have them drilled so you don't have to buy adapters. Please let me know if this is true and will work....

I'm not sure but I think that's how they did the early directory bolt on semi's. They cut and removed the center hub and welded in a new hub and drilled it out but I think about time you do all that work you could just get adapters. Don't qoute me though lol.

You can do this in some cases. The common problem on most of the trucks is that the studs are not long enough to pass through and will shear the studs eventually. This is why we sell the adapters to make it stronger and more safe for everyone involved.

And honestly that big lug pattern (the original semi pattern) looks way cool and tough anyway, dunno why you'd want to shrink it down. You're putting semis on your truck because they look bad-ass, might as well retain all the bad-assery that you can.

Direct bolt would be cool for the crowd that wants an easy bolt-on...but I still think I'd run adapters with real semi's. Looks cooler. Like for example, Brentz look good, but the small 8x6.5" pattern just looks puny to me on them.
