i got a question for you guys with the v8 dually's...ive seen Sevral people haul goosenecks with the 454 and i know they'll pull'em pretty good, but with a 350 will it town a gooseneck with a 3car wedge hauler behind it??? or would it not be a good idea...
i know bill Calton used to Tug With His dually with the Trailer Matt Spence has now...his old dually the Blue one that ol Boy got on here, i believe it just has a 350 and auto tranny in it... just wondering before i go in and buy a Dually with the v8 in it, dont want to get a 350 if its going to Crap on me when i hook up a wedge Trailer on it....
Thanks Fella's...

bills old dually was the shit, but I think he had a 454 in it. the last year we went to greenville, we had two duallys each pulling cars, the 454 walked on the 350 but the 350 got better gas mileage.

If you want to tow a wedge then definitely get the big block. The 350's are good but not that good. I have a 350 in a 4x4 with 4:10 gears and it had a hard time pulling my 10,000 lb total weight enclosed car trailer with just my s10 in it. It probably would do it but not as good as a big block. If you had a choice I would probably pick the diesel if you want to tow that much. I know the obs diesels weren't the best but its still a diesel. jmo though. There is no replacement for displacement!! LOL

My 454 TBI has a bit done to it and 2 cars is really all i want to put on it. It does well with 2 and could prolly haul 3 but IMO that would mean a premature tranny replacement. Id bet that if the motor had under 50,000 on it it would pull 3 no prob.
Diesels (depending on wich one you get) can be scary powerful. The 94 ram that shawn pulled with last year busted out the rear sliding window one day when he was pulling.

I love that truck, whatever happened to it? I only got to see it in person once in PF TN. They had it at the car wash with 16 steelies I believe on it. Later on I seen it with the 19's though. That was just after it was done though as I remember.

If you plan on doing any serious towing you need a diesel period. Nothing will out pull, out last, or get better fuel economy than a diesel. But then again some people don't like the noise. The new duramaxes are good engines, and contrary to what some believe the old 6.5's were fine if you knew how to drive a diesel and maintain one. Good luck to you
