I have a electrical short in the steering column, and been meaning to fix it, well heres a lesson on why you shouldnt put things off.....

This just isnt my month.... First i get laid off. Then because i got laid off i cant afford my wedding in August, and now this....

Glad your ok, sucks man I had similar sceanario in my VW Notchback, while I was in it. The smell never goes away. At least we know now what a front wheel drive dually looks like doing a burn out. Hope the damage isnt too bad. Good luck on the recovery.

thank you everyone... I think god that my kids n wife werent in the truck when it caught fire.....

Im also very greatful for the guys at the Apple Valley Fire Dept station 2 for saving whats left of my truck.

sorry i told you id post pics the next day but after this i said fukk it and went camping for the weekend...i really needed the mini vacation lol.... the pics dont look bad. It really doesnt look like a lot of damage, which it really isnt..... but ALL the electrical needs to be replaced, as well as the motor, hood, and interior.... i cant get the hood open to show you what it looks like...but just knw its bad..

now its time to start over.... tax time needs to come soon!!!

lessons learned here: 1) DONT PUT SHIT OFF! 2) Dont save 15% or more by not having insurance.....

The good news is im going on a Mini vacation tomaro....i need to get away!!!! when i get back on tuesday we are starting the Rebuild process on the truck...

Plans: custom interior, rhino liner in the floor of the cab, custom sheet metal dash with gauges, suicide doors, shaved door handles,new hood w/ cowl induct, **Full race fire extinguisher thru the whole cab, engine bay, and by the tanks**, rebuild the motor, take out ALL smog b.s., one piece rear electric window, paint, and a few more goodies....

all this is going to be over time, im hoping to have All of it done around tax time next year....

I will start a new thread of the rebuild process once i get started....


The other good news is that my fiancee's uncle is paying for a BIG portion of the wedding....so that's a MAJOR relief! So the wedding is back on!
