Does anyone know of a way to paint or color code the ugly black gasket around the outside door handles on a shitbox 97 chevy? My truck is white and getting the handles and mirrors painted white but the painter told me he wouldnt do the trim ring because the paint would crack off the first time it flexed.
Does everyone with a truck of a different color than black just live with it? I will post a pic of this in the am.

your painter is right. don't paint the rubber gasket for the door handle. the paint will eventually crack off and look like do do...


just deal with the gaskets being black.

Take the gasket off. Seen people do that, but definitely don't paint it.

Does anyone have a white truck with painted door handles that they have a pic of?

Can't really take it off on the later model GMT400 trucks; the door handle hole is larger and the gasket is wider to take up the space. That's why you see so many more of the later ones w/broken handle, because it flexes a lot more. Stupid design, dunno why they made it stupider.
