My truck has a 454,auto tranny,with factory gears 411 (i think).
I want to go back with the 454,but want to put a 700r4 and put higher gears for highway.I would like input from ya'll to read what you think about.

you wont need higher gears with the 700r4


my 83 is 350/700r4/411 and to high as it is.
83 crew dually
91 s10
97 neon ACR
65 chevy stepside
89 s10
99 gt stang (wifes car)

just don't want that wineding out nosie when i drive on the highway.will a stock 700r4 work or will i have to put put some better parts in it.

ifyou going to use it to haul I would have it bulid at a pro tranny shop. for pulling.


if your just draging it around Id use the stock stuff.

I recommend having it built stronger either way. I had a 700r4 in mine for a while and went through 3 heavy duty built 700r4s. They werent designed for heavy vehicles/hauling.
