For those of you looking for an easy sound upgrade without butchering holes in your doors, check out these kick panel speaker pods from 73-87ChevyTrucks.com.

http://store.73-87chevytrucks.com/merch ... de=7387INT

I bought a set to stick in the ‘Burb. Definitely a sound product (no pun intended ). I had to do some very minor, unnoticeable trimming on the underside of the panel, but all in all, the install was super easy and the pods fit great. I don’t have pics of the actual install process- I’m pretty bad about that - but it was real easy.

Image

They pretty much leave it up to you as far as how you want to fasten them to your stock kick panel (I think it came with some Velcro tape), but I opted to screw it in place by using 3 automotive-style interior screws.

The driver’s side panel is clearanced for the parking brake…provided it’s adjusted properly.

I had my hesitations about these pods encroaching on the available foot room, but when it was all said and done, I turned out to be a non-issue.

(no, I’m not a Bro…I was out of white socks and I was just screwing around at the house so I didn’t care.)

I was going to dye them blue, but upon further consideration, I decided to leave them black. They don’t look bad that way, in fact…I rather like them that color.

Overall, I’m very happy with ‘em…happy enough to buy another set for the Sled when the time comes to install some tunes. I’d highly recommend them to anyone looking for an alternative to mutilating the lower half of your doors.

I didn't know we were supposed to stroke your ego. I thought it was an informative post, my mistake.

It looks nice, very good job there, I wish I had your skills.

Nice socks!!!!!!!lol. Personally I would have painted it blue to match. Kick panels are excellent to upgrade your sound. Nice work! Another way to get alittle better sound is to install some tweets on the a pillars. just a suggestion.

The highs are pretty good as is...what I really need is some low end. I put some Pioneer 6x9's in the rear in place of the factory 4x10's. It helped, but there's still lot's of airspace in that ol 'Burb.

Lookin at building a Sub enclosure that will hug close to the side 1/4 in the rear. Possibly where the spare sits.

Then again, Momma likes it as-is, and it's Her rig, so maybe I'll just leave it.
